Munichs airport to open massive new terminal in April


Munich Airport is gearing up to unveil the new Terminal 1 Pier on April 13. the facility is scheduled to start welcoming passengers on April 21.

Munichs airport to open massive new terminal in AprilThe T1 building, one of Bavarias largest infrastructure projects, will provide additional capacity for up to 6 million passengers per year.
It covers a total area of around 300,000 square feet, including an area in the current Arrivals Module B of Terminal 1.
The new pier can handle up to 12 short- and medium-haul aircraft or six wide-body aircraft at the same time on a total of six levels.

American Airlines is still reeling from Sunday's winter storm


American Airlines, which has canceled the most flights of any airline due to Winter Storm Fern, expects two more days of affected operations. 

American Airlines is still reeling from Sunday's winter storm"The impact of the storm is as significant as we've ever seen at American," CEO Robert Isom said during the carrier's Q4 earnings call Tuesday.
As of 1 p.m. Eastern time, American had canceled 881 mainline flights, amounting to 30% of its schedule.
American, including its network of regional American Eagle flights, accounted for the majority of the 1,800-plus U.S. flight cancellations for the day, FlightAware data shows.

Southwest launches assigned seating


Southwest, long an industry unicorn with its unique open-seating policy, has begun flying with assigned seats.

Twenty minutes later, WN4974 took off from Manchester, N.H. headed to Chicago Midway. The airline treated bleary-eyed, early-morning flyers to gate celebrations for both flights. 
"In true Southwest fashion, the company is marking the occasion throughout the day with employees and recognizing the culmination of an 18-month transformational journey," Southwest said.

Delta orders more Airbus widebodies for international fleet


Delta has ordered 31 additional Airbus widebodies, further setting the stage for long-term international expansion.

"As we grow our international footprint and prepare our fleet to serve expanded long-haul markets, these aircraft will enhance our capabilities and elevate our premium offerings," Delta CEO Ed Bastian said in a prepared remark. 
Along with the firm orders, Delta also secured purchase options for 20 more Airbus widebodies.
